인간의 시간진행은 어지럽고 비체계적인 듯 어수선하게 보이지만 좀 더 그 시선을 넓혀 보면 거대한 우주공간 속에 짜여진 촘촘하고도 일사분란한 망(網)과 규칙에 의해 진행되고 있다.
김승환 작가는 이러한 체계적 거시와 근시의 상반된 순간을 틀에 가두어 우리의 시각적 사고를 잠시 묶어두려 한다. 그리고 대중의 초점을 ‘드러난 심장’인 ‘얼굴’에 맞추려고 한다. 이는 외적 불안을 미소로 화답하고, 내적 불안을 주변의 감성을 통해 위로받고자 함이다.
결국 작가는 희노애락(喜怒哀樂)의 ‘비주기적 감정’을 ‘일정한 감성’으로 상대하여 감정과 일상이 어느 한쪽으로 치우치지 않고 평행하도록 화폭과 소통하여, ‘평범(平凡)’ 이상의 범주를 넘지 않으려 노력하고 있다. 이는 복잡한 일상의 삶을 그저 평범하게 바라보고자 하는 작가의 철학이다.
인간은 지식을 시작으로 지혜와 지성의 단계를 습득해 가고자 하는 욕망을 가지고 있다. 작가는 자신의 경험과 지혜를 바탕으로 이러한 욕망을 받아들이면서 삶의 경계를 넓혀 가고자 한다. 그 경계는 결국 하나의 지성을 통해 작품으로 표출될 것이다.

The progression of human time may appear erratic and disorganized, but viewed from a broader perspective, it moves according to a dense, orderly web of rules woven into the vast expanse of the universe.
Artist Kim Seung-hwan captures these contrasting moments of systematic macroscopic and microscopic views within a frame, seeking to momentarily suspend our visual perception. He directs the audience’s focus toward the ‘face’, the ‘unveiled heart’. This represents a desire to respond to external anxiety with a smile and to find solace for internal unrest through the sensibility of one’s surroundings.
Ultimately, the artist confronts the ‘sporadic emotions’ of joy, anger, sorrow, and pleasure with a ‘consistent sensibility.’ Through his dialogue with the canvas, he strives to keep emotion and daily life in parallel equilibrium, taking care not to exceed the realm of the ‘ordinary.’ This is the artist’s philosophy: a wish to view the complexities of daily life through a lens of profound simplicity.
Humans possess a desire to acquire knowledge and move toward the stages of wisdom and intellect. Based on his own experience and wisdom, the artist embraces these desires while striving to expand the boundaries of life. Those boundaries will eventually be expressed through his work as a form of intellect.
